Welcome!

Perhaps you found this website by chance — or perhaps you are interested in poetry and already know of the Norwegian poet and national bard Per Sivle. If so, you are in the right place.

Sivle-laget is a Norwegian non-profit membership organization dedicated to collecting, verifying, and sharing complete and accurate information about Per Sivle, his life, and his writings. This website is an ongoing project. We continue to uncover new details and, at times, previously unknown works, which we carefully verify before making them available here.

Although Per Sivle wrote exclusively in Norwegian, we have received translations of his poetry from enthusiasts around the world, including English, German, Chinese, and Ukrainian. Some translations are produced by experienced poets, others by dedicated volunteers. For English translations, we currently collaborate with Finn Tømmerberg.

Our goal is to introduce Per Sivle’s writings to a wider international audience. We warmly welcome new translation contributions—especially in languages not yet represented, but also suggestions for improved poetic interpretations that remain faithful to the original Norwegian text. As a non-profit organization, we generally cannot offer financial compensation, but we are happy to credit contributors and may offer a small token of appreciation.

Per Sivle’s works are collected in our digital Library ("Bibliotek"):

• Red titles indicate works not yet available on the website.
• Blue titles indicate works available in Norwegian.
• Blue titles with a country flag indicate that a translation is available in the corresponding language.
• We are gradually adding flags and translations to both literary works and informational pages, with English as our primary target language.
